My Search Story: Personal Branding & SM Marketer

I wanted to have a little fun today with my personal brand by visiting YouTube’s tool that allows you to create your own Google Search Story.

This is a real cool way to visually show your audience how visible and searchable you are on the web today.

Here is mine:

How My Personal Brand Ended up In Nevada

During my daily scan on Twitter a few weeks ago, I came across @smartreno, the Social Media Conference for professionals, small business, gaming, and tourism, run by Bret Simmons. We soon connected after he found my personal brand through my work on Twitter and my read blog. He then asked to interview me on how I developed my personal brand from being a student to a college graduate searching for jobs. Not knowing much about this conference nor the blog they were associated with, I answered and submitted them, anxiously awaiting the publish date.

I soon came to find out that I was being featured on the Student Branding blog, a subset of the Personal Branding blog run by nationally known and respected Dan Schawbel! This is definitely a huge step in the right direction for getting coverage and attention to my finely tuned personal brand. It is incredible how quickly information, my brand in particular, can be passed around the country, and even the world!

As an introduction to the interview, Bret Simmons, the man who interviewed me for this blog, made a wonderful video in front of a backdrop of astounding mountains, introducing me and my brand. You can view the video and blog interview here.

Bret then went on to message me on Twitter to tell me: “drbret: Did a presentation today to students and showed your brand. LOVE your presentation on branding. Clean up your FB – yes!”. To imagine I was going to be featured in a class in Nevada this early on was unthinkable until now!

This example truly shows the immense value of networking, sharing content, and promoting valuable information to your peers. Information spreads at the speed of light, you just need to keep up with it to be seen by the big shots!

Thanks again Bret, @smartreno, and the Student Branding blog for noticing me and featuring my brand on your site!
