This is the third of many iPhone application reviews that I will be doing.
This review is a demo of Meebo, an integrated chat platform that allows you to import your contacts from several social and instant messaging sources on your iPhone all into one place. This allows for convenience, less applications on your phone, and the ability to keep in touch with friends anywhere all in one place.
If you have Meebo, let me know your thoughts. If not, would you get it after this review?
Vlingo is a new, voice-activated iPhone application that is free for users thought iTunes. (There is also a paid version for Blackberry that you can see on the website).
Vlingo has the following features:
Auto-dialing
Google Map searches
Google/Yahoo search engine queries
Social media status updates
The way Vlingo works is by pressing the “Press + Speak button” then speaking your specific command (suggestions are given under “what you can say” on the app. The app then “thinks” for a few seconds, and then executes your command.
Two drawbacks:
1. Time delay; it takes at least 5 seconds to process each request, not efficient for those that need an instant result
2. Speech is very sensitive; it may misinterpret a word, such as recognizing “block” instead of “blog” when spoken
Other than that, it is one of my highest rated apps that you should download and try out today. It is a great time saver, is safe to use in the car and on the go when you cannot type on your phone, and it is an up and coming technology.
Watch the video demo/review below and let me know your thoughts and comments!
